New Perspectives for Effective Events
From August 16 to 17, 2026, 27 event professionals visited Wiesbaden to get to know our conference venue and the city of Wiesbaden itself better. In addition to site inspections and engaging educational content, there were many networking opportunities, including with partners from the Wiesbaden Partner Network.
Focus on Target Audiences: Two Days Full of New Perspectives
From August 16 to 17, 2026, 27 event planners took part in Convention Wiesbaden’s Educational Tour. Under the theme “Focus on Target Audiences,” the tour combined the latest industry insights with personal exchanges and a firsthand experience of Wiesbaden as an event destination.
Together with expert Julia Stechl from Proske GmbH, the participants explored AI-powered personas and design thinking for targeted event planning. Site inspections at the RheinMain CongressCenter and Kurhaus Wiesbaden, an “Inside Walk” through the city, a visit to the Rheingau Wine Week, and exchanges with partners from the Wiesbaden network all helped participants experience the diversity of this conference destination firsthand.
Site Inspections: Experience Event Venues Firsthand
What is the atmosphere like at a venue? What possibilities do the spaces offer, and how can different event formats be implemented? During in-depth site inspections, participants got to know the RheinMain CongressCenter (opens in a new tab) (RMCC) and the Kurhaus Wiesbaden (opens in a new tab) from the perspective of event planners.
The focus was not only on rooms, capacities, and technical capabilities, but above all on specific usage scenarios and the question of how the two venues can meet the very different requirements of business events.
Speed Dating: Get to Know the Wiesbaden Network in Person
An event destination thrives on the people and partners who work together to make local events possible. That’s why the Wiesbaden partner network was actively involved in this year’s Educational Tour.
During a speed-dating session, participants engaged in brief conversations with partners from the hospitality industry, venue providers, and the events sector. In a relaxed atmosphere, new connections were made, concrete points of contact were established, and participants gained direct insight into the network that event planners can draw on for future events in Wiesbaden.
Personas 2.0: Understanding Target Audiences Better with AI
Julia Stechl, Account Manager & Design Thinking Coach at Proske GmbH, kicked off the technical session with her keynote presentation, “Personas 2.0 – Using AI to Target the Right Audience.”
The focus was on how AI can help us view target audiences in a more nuanced way and develop realistic personas. After all, understanding the expectations, needs, pain points, and motivations of your participants creates a better foundation for relevant and effective event concepts.
A key idea: Every event has an admission price—even if it isn’t always paid with money. Participants invest time, attention, energy, and trust. This makes it all the more important to create an experience that is worth that investment.
Design Thinking: From Understanding to Action
On the second day, the initial idea was put into practice. In an interactive Design Thinking workshop led by Julia Stechl, participants continued working with the personas they had developed earlier and consistently examined event concepts from the personas’ perspectives.
Using methods such as empathy mapping, brainwriting, and SCAMPER, they analyzed needs and challenges, questioned familiar patterns of thinking, and developed new approaches to solutions.
Julia Stechl was supported by Anne Motzki, Annika Schaad-Diederich, and Ulrike Theis from the Convention Wiesbaden team, who facilitated the small groups through the individual work phases.
This resulted in a comprehensive, professional framework: from AI-supported personas to a deeper understanding of the target audience, all the way to concrete ideas for their own event planning.
